Finally! (Psychologist)
May. 6th, 2018 09:20 amSo, as previously mentioned, I need a new psychologist, as my current one is retiring. I found one online who looked good and sent her a message. She hasn't responded. Now, there are a ton of reasons why she might not respond - everything from technical problems to not being interested in my case. However, finally, yesterday, I thought, "If she isn't a person who is prompt with email, then I may not want her as a psychologist." I'm going to call her tomorrow, so it isn't like I have dismissed her already. The important thing, though, is that I have finally moved in my mind from being in a position where I am begging for help to a position where I am a client who will purchase a service. Today, I'll come up with nine more doctors who also look good, and I'll call all of them tomorrow. When I was first looking for a psychologist, I just called everyone in the phone book, and my current psychologist was the only person who got back to me. It is easy, when you aren't well, to take a lack of response as rejection or a sign of some larger problem. I'm glad that I have finally moved from being desperate to being more reasonable. I have until December to find a new doctor, and there are a lot of psychologists in the world. I will eventually find someone. Hopefully, I will continue to feel reasonable about this.
