Anxious

I may have mentioned that we are waiting on the estimate of the cost of the repairs to the house we want to buy from the construction company. I emailed them on Thursday and Friday with information that the lady requested but haven't gotten a response. Also, the reviews for the parent company are generally not good, and on Google, the response from the parent company is "These are independent franchises. We have no control over their work.". Not good. I asked the lady from the construction company about that in one of the emails, but like I said, no response. Joel has meanwhile found another contractor. They are in one of the larger towns near where the house we are looking at is. They have good reviews (although not tons), are LGBT-friendly (although this is Portugal, so that isn't some kind of crazy, unexpected thing), and have pictures on their website that include one with a stained concrete floor, which is what we want (in a very simple house, which is also what we want). Joel spoke on the phone with someone from the contractor, and the person sounded very nice. So, we're going to try to meet them on Saturday. I think. We need to get our buyer's agent to contact the seller's realtor to open up the house for us. I'll have to miss tai chi, but it just once will be okay. So, I'm anxious about this. I think it is partly because we have to meet someone and partly because the buyer's agent is pushing us to use the big construction company. I don't think it is malicious or exceptionally shady. Deep down, I know that this is something that we need to do. I just hate dealing with anything that is even remotely like conflict. Luckily, the big construction company hasn't gotten back to us with an estimate yet, so even though I don't need to justify why we want to get a second quote, since getting a second quote is the sensible, responsible thing to do, I can still point to that as a sign of the big company not being terribly responsive. The buyer's agent says that the work done by the bigger company is guaranteed (if they don't do it right, they will come back and fix it). However, the internet gives us the impression that they sometimes don't even finish the job, let alone come back to fix things. Also, I almost always feel more comfortable giving my money to a small, local business. I dunno. I am confident that this will work out. I just am not happy about the process between here and there. I think I need to try to force myself to calm down. I remember writing something about this a week or so ago. I need to go back and see if I had figured out anything useful, since I can't remember anything right now.
