Today, we got library cards!! I'm so pleased! I also took out the first book of a series (at least 60 books long) that I'm looking forward to reading. It is for 11-14 year olds, so it is mature enough to be interesting while still having kind of simple constructions. Clearly, I can't read it without a dictionary, but I can guess at many of the words that I would never have had any clue about in Russian. That makes things much easier.
Joel and I both agree that I am doing pretty well right now. I think eating apples when I feel anxious is helping. I haven't lost any weight, but I feel hungry sometimes, so I'm at least getting closer to doing so. I think that trying to interact with other humans often is helpful to keep me from being afraid of them.
I have watched a bunch of videos and have come up with some interesting ideas. One of the things is that the shadows in the foreground than the night sky or background shadows. I can see that now when I look at the shadows outside my window. I saw a lot of videos that were using very dark colors for the sky, and while it is dark, it isn't that dark. I mentioned previously watching videos on blending, and I saw a video recently that used the same blending technique on stars in a night sky. That painting was a bit foggy, while mine will be in the desert, so I might not use it, but it was interesting to see. I saw another video that had a really dark green night sky. There was a train in the foreground, and the train was done in a very dark red. The contrast really made the train pop out. I think I could go with a slightly green night sky or maybe just green highlights. The rocks in the midground are a bit reddish, so that will give some depth. I really need to keep in mind that the sphinxes will have the darkest shadows, maybe bluish purple? That would really give them a lot of pop. I'll try to decide where the darkest parts are before I start working on it. I see a lot of people started with the sky and then going to other distant elements before moving closer. I might need to write up a plan so that I don't forget these important points.
