What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Today, we went up to the new house again. People here had said that we needed to check up on the construction people at the house. However, once we got there, there really was no point in us being there. We couldn't speak to the workers, and even if we could, what would we say? Hi, we are here to check up on you? They already send us photos every day. I guess we can say that the photos definitely reflect the work being done at the house. There was a lot, and there was no way we could enter the house or the yard. After going there, we headed to a nearby village that had a bathroom I could use. There is technically a bathroom right by our house, but the toilet isn't well connected to the ground, which means that when you flush it, water (and whatever was in the toilet) floods out. So, we walked down a steep gravel road leading away from our house, which became progressively more rustic, until it was finally just a narrow path. It led over a hill, and at that point, I was expecting something like in Benin, where a footpath would lead to a clearing in the jungle with a single house. Instead, it led to a paved road, which led to a fairly big town. I knew that this place had the recycle bins that we would use, and knowing that it was a big town and not a dirt clearing with two houses made everything much less confusing. So, once again, we had a nice walk from the house to Vila Franca de Xira. We probably won't go back to the new house until there is something for us to look at, like a new roof (which they have put the beams in for).

I finally emailed the language school today asking what is going on with my lessons tomorrow, which I still haven't heard anything about. I did get an answer (saying that they are sorting out the schedule), so I feel better. However, I look forward to getting this all sorted out.
