What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Last Friday, we went to the new house. It looks great! However, it isn't quite ready. When it is, though, we are going to need to do a bit of work ourselves, especially painting. Joel is mostly handling that. Once we get moved there, we are going to have a bunch of other challenges. Like storage. There are no closets, extra rooms, or anything. All we have is the strange space (maybe about a foot wide and a few feet high) around the edge of the room under the roof where the wall gets thinner. We can totally fill that with boxes or shelves, but of course, we want them to look nice. At the moment, I'm leaning toward boxes for the things that we don't use too often, because there would be a ton of dust with shelves. Anyway, I have come up with these relatively simple boxes (again, since I'm sure I saw the pattern before) without the rope hinges for most of them. We'll see what Joel thinks.

I think I may have already written this, but we are thinking of what to do with that huge blank wall on the street side of our house. There are no windows or anything, just a big, white wall. At the moment, I'd like to put four or five tall trees of some kind against the wall, separated by plants and maybe some kind of cool hanging framed succulents. However, the tree you usually use for this is a cypress tree. Joel doesn't like them. We are dithering about other options, like bamboo (probably needs too much water) or potted reeds (also need a lot of water). Or maybe we'll go for some kind of vine like a bougainvillea. They are common here and pretty. Maybe I can grow it on some kind of trellis? ChatGPT suggested that I could also try honeysuckle or star jasmine. It had other suggestions, but I doubt they will be slender enough for the space. It sounds like star jasmine might be best, as it also can tolerate shade.
