Adjustment
Jan. 12th, 2024 12:02 amToday was good. Granted, I think I am running on forced functionality, so I will have a few more days where I can totally handle doing stuff, and then my body will realize that it is no longer an emergency, and I will stop being functional. However, I hope that by then I'll have my routine all set up, so that I can just slide into it without having too much confusion or anxiety. Anyway, today, I went to Lisbon for the dentist, but first, we had the heat installed. I got distracted and ended up leaving late. I rushed and ended up falling and skinning my knee. Not that I haven't had plenty of skinned knees. However, I made it to the dentist just fine. She worked on the tooth but declared beforehand that she didn't think we needed to replace any other of the old fillings just then. The tooth that she worked on had a bunch of cracks (like 10). She said that she was surprised I wasn't in pain. I don't know if I mistook discomfort in that tooth for discomfort in another tooth or what. Normally, I just ignore that kind of thing. Anyway, after working on the tooth, she said that we should replace all my old fillings, since those teeth are probably not in great shape. Fine by me. I don't trust any of these old fillings. Amusingly, she gave me twice the usual dose of anesthetic, but that still didn't end up being enough and had to give me a bit more. Still, that was better than the last time, when it was just constantly adding more anesthetic. I felt yucky was it wore off, but that isn't a huge surprise.
In other news, we have come up with a plan for the living room. Joel had planned to put the couch against the wall under the stairs, which would have been okay for him lounging on it, but would have otherwise made one of the seats inaccessible, because that seat would have been against the basin (the one that used to be for the stomped grape juice to come out of the kitchen). Instead, we decided to move the sideboard under the stairs. The couch will go where the sideboard is now, near the bathroom door. Joel can have a rolling cart for a desk that can be in front of the couch when he wants to use it and can be wheeled to the side when he doesn't. But what will we do with the basin? At the moment, we'd like to put a glass terrarium in it. It could have moss, maybe a pump with running water, little mountains, and a forest. We'll see. We have a bunch of stuff to do first, but it is a fun goal.
