Appointments and Clouds
May. 14th, 2024 05:52 pmI got an email from the gyn who will do my surgery and was able to tell him that the hospital changed around my appointments, potentially causing issues. If I don't hear anything back from him, I'll go to the guy who set up the appointments (he schedules all the surgeries) and ask him what I should do.
I'm painting a beach scene for a birthday card and have _finally_ managed to get the shadow under the clouds to look right. I still haven't gotten the overhead clouds perfect, but the ones that are in the middle distance are good. The trick seems to be using dark, mostly blue shadows in a fairly thin area under the clouds and putting them in with a sideways brush stroke. Normally, the foreground has the darkest shadows, but that doesn't seem to be the case for overhead clouds. At least in the photo I'm painting from, the mid-distance clouds have the darkest shadows on the bottom. I'll clean up the top cloud a bit with a slightly darker shadow, and then go on to fix the water. I'm going to try to work on it tomorrow after the doctor, as I could probably use two days to work on it, which will give it time to dry a bit on Friday.
