I finished up the beach painting. I haven't totally gotten down painting waves yet, but it looks pretty good. I'm super happy with the painting, even with the lack of perfection. I used my new paint brush on it (rigger brush), and that helped a lot. Sometimes, you just need a really fine brush that can make long, thin lines.

Tomorrow, we'll be playing out the combat that will happen in the next chapter of our D&D story (with minis and dice). I'm so excited to see what happens!!

With the painting done, I can get back to work on the podcast. I hope I will have at least a little bit of time tomorrow to work on it. I think it will be easier than painting, since my stress level affects it less. I think.

I got a bunch of essential oils today for making more pastry-scented lotion. However, what was supposed to be nutmeg-scented essential oil smells a lot like the chemicals that are used in porta-potties. I think it is white pine? Anyway, nasty. The company has mysteriously taken down the webpage on Amazon for the product. Grrrr.... Anyway, I should get the strawberry perfume oil tomorrow, which should allow me to make the strawberry shortcake lotion. If the strawberry smells good, then I can buy the nutmeg essential oil from the same company (for use in pumpkin pie scented lotion).

I'm doing this whole Cthulhu mythos study project that I came up with, so I have to do some reading tonight and tomorrow to get ready for that. (Cthulhu mythos: it is the 1920s, and a distant relative left you a book that turns out to have information about a mysterious cult that practices human sacrifice and worships a being so ancient that it came to Earth before humans existed. This being is from a race of ancient gods that will one day rule again.) Basically, a friend and I are reading the really influential books by Lovecraft in the Cthulhu mythos, plus books by other authors who contributed to the mythos or are mentioned in the stories. The stories don't have a lot of action, but luckily they are pretty short. Also, Lovecraft was totally racist. (The twisted, sub-human cultists are from the "lower races", while the clever investigators and dreamy artists who are lightly touched by the madness of the ancient gods are all from the highest levels of white society.) However, sometimes you have to put up with shit to learn something interesting. Also, there is information for a roleplaying game set in the Cthulhu mythos that has much more interesting ideas about why indigenous people might choose to worship these ancient gods. I will eventually get to that good stuff, but first, I need to learn the background.

The date of my surgery was dependent on when I get my period. Well, that has been answered. So, since it was sooner than expected, they will move up the surgery date. The hospital will also have to change the rest of my pre-surgery appointments. That's fine, though. They can do it. I'm a bit anxious about this, but it means that it will be over sooner, which I'm totally looking forward to.
