Leaving room
Apr. 9th, 2025 06:55 pmI was talking to a friend the other day about how it seems like you need to not only have enough financial backup for emergencies but also a bit of extra emotional reserve for it too. It seems like when you are constantly right at the edge of what you can take, then when something goes wrong, it is way more of an issue than it would be if you had the emotional reserve to handle it. Of course, this is the issue when you deal with people with mental health issue (or you are a person with mental health issues). You are very often right at the edge of what you can take, which makes any extra bit of stress too much. I don't know how much can be done about this, but it strikes me that jobs (or a society) that expects you to be right at the edge of what you can take all the time is setting everyone up for failure.
