Some progress

As with yesterday, today had a little bit of progress. We headed into town, but the bus came early, so we missed it by a couple of minutes. A lady who was going to the business by the bus stop told us that we missed it. After she came out of the business, she offered us a ride into town, which we took her up on. She said that we should learn Portuguese. Yes, we explained, we are working on it. When we got to town, we split up, and I went to finalize the cancellation of our internet service (which involved me struggling through more Portuguese). After that, my goal was to buy a shovel. The place that Google Maps suggested had gone out of business, but I had seen a place that looked like it might work on one of my trips through town in a cab. So, I wandered around until I found it. I asked for a shovel. The nice lady showed me a plastic dust pan. My brain helpfully showed me trying to dig a hole with it. I told her that I needed a shovel for the garden. She showed me a metal dust pan, which my brain also showed me trying to use to dig a hole. Finally, I gave in and showed her a photo of a shovel. There was a guy behind the counter, and he told the lady where to look. It turned out that they had only one regular shovel (and one of the other kind that digs very straight holes). It was a bit large, but it cost 11€, so I bought it. Then, I wandered around for a while carrying a really big shovel. I was going to work on organizing my paints this evening, but instead I ended up taking all the stuff out of the boxes that Sasha brought to us in Morocco. That's okay. I've made progress on plenty of stuff and can do more tomorrow, like digging a hole for compost with my new shovel.
