Almost there
Jan. 9th, 2024 08:44 amIt is 2 hours before the movers come. We are packing the last bits, all the stuff that had to wait until the last minute. After the moving truck is packed, I'll head out to try and get utilities turned off.

OMG, guys! We did it! We got moved! I also got the water and power turned off for the old place. The internet may or may not be turned off. I returned the router, but they wanted me to explain to someone on the phone (to cancel my contract) what I had already told them: that they don't have internet out here. I got the call, and even though I told the guy in the store that I needed to talk to someone in English, the person who called didn't speak English. The guy transferred me, but after 5 minutes of waiting, I decided it was much more important to me to get home than it was to hang around and listen to hold music.
I'm so amused, because when most people say they moved into their dream home, they mean something huge. Our dream home is a bit different.
It is now almost midnight, and I'm halfway through dinner. However, we have gotten the basics set up: a sitting area, the shower, the kitchen, and my computer. Joel says he'll set up the bed tonight. We'll set up Joel's computer and the washing machine tomorrow. The only not so good thing is that it is fucking freezing in here. Like 52F. With 77% humidity. The dehumidifier is hard at work, though, and we found the hot water bottle. So, it won't be too bad tonight. Also, the minisplit (a/c and heater) will be installed in less than 2 days.
Now, eating and then sleep.
